Most drinking water is disinfected with chlorine...Just how safe is Chlorine?

Back in the early 1900’s when we started using chlorine in this country to clean up our drinking water, once common illnesses (dysentery, cholera, typhoid fever) were practically eliminated. However, over time, it has been found that the use of chlorine can have adverse health effects that should be of concern. After all, chlorine is used to kill living organisms and we’re drinking it...how can that be good for you?

According to the EPA, chronic exposure to chlorine and chlorine by-products may cause liver, kidney, heart, and neurological damage…as well as affecting unborn children.
• Chlorinating can produce trihalomethanes (THMs) that have been found to be cardinogenic.
• According to the National Cancer Institute, people who drink chlorinated tap water increase their risk of bladder cancer.
• A study by the Environmental Working Group (January 2002) found that drinking tap water contaminated with chlorine by-products was unsafe for consumption by pregnant women.

The good news about chlorine is that is relatively easy to remove from your water...and the AquaRain does it great! The granulated activated carbon found within the filter elements will safely remove chlorine, volatile organic chemicals, THMs, MTBE, pesticides....all for only pennies a gallon.
